Adur Art Collective Summer Exhibition 2019 Kore Sage

This year I will have a mixed media painting on display and despite the lack of Powertex I’m happy with how this finished up!

Fractured, Mixed media painting by Kore Sage Art

I used layers of acrylics paint, charcoal, graphite and oil pastel on canvas. This bright orange painting is how it looked after the first pass and at this point I thought I had finished.

I really liked it. I suspect there will be people that prefer this version. The orange is powerful and it has so much energy but it lacked contrast. Adding deeper reds on top gave me contrast but also allowed me to scratch back that paint to reveal the glow of the orange from underneath. It has so much more depth now. I had to take a risk and that’s what art is all about!

Come by the exhibition if you’re in the area. Visitors are asked to vote for their favourite artwork and although the art is for sale it’s a friendly place to just see some great art!
