These Deep Blue paintings are heading to Clarkes Art Shop and Gallery in Brighton this week. They are abstract land and seascapes of nighttime by the sea, lights along the coastline and warm breezes after the sun goes down.

Painted edges

The paintings wrap seamlessly around the edges giving a sense of depth and energy to each one. Blues layer up in shades of turquoise and pthalo with white highlights and deep indigo glazes. The marks shift between urban lettering and energetic splashes and scribbles. Each has a sense of the where the sea meets the land. This became the theme for the series.

Clarkes Art Shop and Gallery

Find the gallery upstairs at Clarkes Art Shop in Bond Street, Brighton. The shop is in the heart of the city near the North Laine. Take a look at the mural down the side of the shop before browsing for art supplies and following the stairs up to art and gifts. There’s lots to see.
